Room 3 at the Summer Exhibition is a particular light. The ceiling is high, the hang is dense, and the work needs to hold its own against everything around it.
Orange Sky was shown there in 2024 — edition of 65, archival pigment on Hahnemühle Photo Rag. The image is a compressed horizon: orange bleeding into black, the sky reduced to a single seam of colour.
What the room asks
The RA context pushes the work in a specific direction. It asks for something that reads fast from distance but rewards close looking. Orange Sky does this through surface: the paper texture is visible under the ink, and the gradient shift from orange to black is never clean — it breaks slightly, the way a real sky does at dusk.
Edition notes
All 65 prints are numbered and signed. A small number remain available. The image is taken from the Itinerant Sea series — long walks along coastlines, usually in low light, always alone.
