GD — WORK NOTE cyanotype / 2020

Exhibited at the 252nd Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

The work explores themes of identity, immigration, and contested borders. A view of hope, distance, and longing for something.

Created using cyanotype water development — the deep Prussian blue of the process itself speaking to depth and distance. Screenprint applied to the surface. Gold leaf defines the horizon line, the only fixed point in an uncertain crossing.

The edition of 30 references William Shakespeare’s poem Full Fathom Five Thy Father Lies from The Tempest, equating to 30 feet — a still horizon amongst an uncertain journey.

Edition of 30 — sold out.
